A long few weeks!

Well...not much new to report on the adoption front. We've got some money headed to the adoption agency which is awesome and I'm working on the paperwork for the grant that came with Jack.

On September 10th, Leslie had a surgery during which they accidentally put a hole in her bladder. This caused her some excruciating pain and the need to come home with the catheter still in place. She went back for testing on the 16th and everything looked good so they took the catheter out. At some point, a small hole re-opened in her bladder and was causing some discomfort and spasms. She was feeling really bad. Then last Thursday the 24th, her mom surprised us and showed up to help out. Thank God she did. She made Leslie take her temp and it was 102. We called the Dr. and they sent us to the ER. Long story short, the fluid from the leaking bladder formed an infected abscess which caused the fever, nausea & diarrhea. Needless to say, she was extremely sick and they admitted her. The next day the put a needle through her butt cheek and into the abscess to drain it. Then left a tube in so that it could continue to drain. In addition, they put the catheter back in to allow the bladder more time to heal. So she has tubes sticking out of her everywhere. She will likely not be released until Wednesday the 30th. That's almost a full week in there. On top of that, our youngest came down with the flu on Friday night and I've been home taking care of her. She was terribly and miserably sick for two straight days. I think she has finally turned the corner this morning. Now my oldest is also home sick. Given that I'm the primary care giver of the flu patient, that means that I couldn't go to the hospital to be with Leslie at all, but her mom has been there the whole time. So..."good times"! That's my little sarcastic saying.

With all of that, our fundraiser planning has kind of stalled temporarily. But nothing is a surprise to God. His timing is perfect. We will get Jack precisely when we are supposed to.

Thank you to everyone who has brought meals, drove my kids and in-laws around, watched the kids, helped close the pool and prayed for us. Everyone's kindness and generosity has truly been a blessing and we really appreciate it.
