Garage sale fundraiser

The garage sale was a big success! We need to give a big "Thank You!" to our friends the Rodericks and the Kims, who opened their homes to us and hosted our sale. Then we need to give big "Thanks" to all of our friends who showed up to help set up, operate, and close down the function. It was very hard work, but we had so much fun with each and every person there. We also need to give big "Thank Yous" to all of the generous people that donated items for the sale. And finally...thank you to all of the people who came to the sale and made purchases and donations. We couldn't have done it without any of these people. We are so humbled by the amount of items donated as well as the friends that came out to help. We had enough stuff to fill a 6-car garage and then some. At the close of the day, we were able to donate a flat bed trailer of items to Goodwill, and still keep enough items to have another sale at Grain Valley City Wide garage sale days. Whew, that's a lot of stuff!! Drumroll please.....we raised $2,022.92!!!! Woot, woot!! We only need an additional $3,000.00 for all of the travel money to be accounted for! Thank you friends, family, and mosty, God! We are watching the numbers climb and the days get closer to being able to go get our new, sweet son. So many people donated without buying anything, others smiled and said, "keep the change", and then there were those that just wanted to hear more about who Jack is. The day was so overwelming. From watching across the street and seeing and hearing our friends laugh and work hard on our behalf; to having my friends' kids present that are also adopted from China and Vietnam as a constant reminder of why we were there; to hearing story after story of adoption, in all of it's forms. It really was a day that was all we could have hoped and dreamed it would be.

April 7 marked the three year anniversay of Jack being institutionalized, a very heartbreaking reality. We know that none of this is a surprise to God, and that His timing is perfect, and that we will get Jack home exactly when we are supposed to. But in all honesty, it's just not fast enough for us, his family, that yearns and longs to bring him home and get to know him as family's are supposed to know each other. His birthday is August 16, and boy, what a party we will have!! Surely we will have him home by then! It is looking like a June travel date is actually not out of the question! WOW, our minds can hardly wrap around that! It's so exciting and terrifying at the same time!
