It was another crazy busy day even though it was our off day. We had tentatively signed up for the trip to the safari. Jack woke up and was still running a fever from the shots he had recieved the day before. We figured with the hot weather and all the walking, that he wouldn't be up for that trip, so we hung around the hotel. We slept in a little and went down for the standard breakfast buffet. Then we hit the play room for a while. Jack was busy building a wonderful re-creation of the Greatwall with the toys in the room. The boy is quite interesting. A little later, dad was invited to go to the fresh fish market with a couple other dads and their 5 year old daughters (One of the pictures I attached shows one of the fresh catches of the day escaping), which proved to be very exciting. On the way back, we stopped and did some souvenier shopping and got some good deals with our bargaining skills. What I didn't know is how long I was going to be gone when I set out on this adventure (turned out to be 3 hours). Back at the hotel, Jack went down for a nap. He awoke while mom was in the bathroom and dad was out still out playing Steve Irwin "it's a man- eating crodile...I'm going to touch it". Poor little Jack was devestated, mom rushed back to love on him and calm him down, but then he was looking for daddy, and calling for me, and crying almost unconsoulably. Jack was upset, mom was upset that Jack was so upset and needless to say...dad was in a little trouble when he got back. But then it was time to cool off (in more ways than one) and do a little swimming, which Jack loves. We swam with our friends for probably and hour. Next on the agenda was to meet a large group of friends at Lucy's restaurant for dinner and to help celebrate Amanda Wachner's 5th birthday (she was almost eaten by the crocodile earlier - ok, not really). We had a great time and enjoy talking with all the other families and hearing the new stories and how things are going with their new children. It did get a little warm, so Jack had to loose the shirt to show off his chiseled body to the other little hot Chinese girls at the party. When we got back to the room, mom turned on the TV to HBO...(english speaking channels are hard to come by here) and found the Michael Jackson show. Daddy got Jack a bath and then mom got in the tub. While she was in the bathroom, Jack was snuggled up laying on the bed with daddy and he started to mimick the moves he was seeing MJ do on the show. When mom came out, I said "you've go to see this". At that point, Jack was standing up and trying to imitate every move he saw. We were blown away and just absolutely crying laughing it was so funny and cute. I've got a bunch of it on video and will have to post it on the blog for you once we get home.
Well...I'm starting to fall asleep. I had better close for the night. Our boy is such a blessing. We are all anxious to be home and get the next phase of this journey started. Thank you God for trusting us with such an amazing little guy and thank you for showing up even in the smallest of details.
Chris
