Day 1

Day 1
It's now towards the end of day two and things are going really well. The surgeries went really good. The tubes took no time at all and then the plastic surgeon was started on the palate. They were really good about giving us updates and our boy did great. The Dr. got the palate pretty well closed as we expected. We will still need to get him a second surgery in 3 - 6 months. Jack was happy to see us afterwards and was a little groggy and in and out of sleep most of the day. Pretty typical stuff. We could tell the pain was starting to get a little much and we got a little heavier pain meds on board. He slept pretty much throughout the night except for when they came in to give him meds and check vitals. By this morning, we started to see our Jack coming back. We started to see some smiles and hear some laughs and it wasn't long before he was starting to be a little ornery and playing games. He has been drinking fluids and going pee a lot which are both requirements for getting out of here. We have been able to take his restraining sleeves off as long as we were keeping an eye on him so that he doesn't put his hands in his mouth. He has done so good that we now only use them for sleeping. We got to take him off of the fluids this afternoon and unhook his other monitors so that he is not tethered with tubes and wires anymore. I think he would really like to eat some solid food, so we are trying to avoid eating infront of him. We went to see  Pet Pals for Patients this evening and Jack wasn't sure what to think of the big dogs and he got his picture taken with his favorite. As I type, he is sitting on his bed playing and screaming with his mom. The Dr. came in this afternoon and said that Jack is doing much better than he had expected him to. So all is well and we should get to head home in the morning. Thank you for all of the thoughts, prayers, calls, texts, e-mails, visits and help with our other kids. Here are several pictures of the last couple days.

I know this is the pot calling the kettle black, but I am ready for some updates.
